B.I.C. = Brothers in ChristPurpose: The purpose of the Men’s Ministry of Fremont Evangelical Free Church is to encourage and train the men of the church to be the leaders in their homes and in the church.

Gatherings: The primary time of the month that the men gather to meet around God’s word is the 2nd Saturday at 7:30am to 9:00am for breakfast at the church.  We have completed a series on the 5 Key Values of the Men’s Minsitry (below) and a 12 month tour through Wayne Grudem’s Systematic Theology, making the point that if we are to be the primary pastors of our homes as men, we need to know the word of God for ourselves and pass that on in delight to our wife and children.

In 2010 for these “2nd Saturday” breakfasts, we plan to have 12 sessions covering the following:  Missions in January with missionary Kyle Mc Clellan of T4 Global, 3 sessions on Business for the glory of God through April, 2 session on the family, and then July to December going through 6 sections of Donald Whitney’s book on the spiritual disciplines.  Please join us for a great time of fellowship together as men.

Retreats are another avenue for us as men to get together.  In 2010 we a planning a Friday evening retreat and guest speaker and in the Fall a Saturday afternoon and evening session as well.  Stay tuned for details on these events.

Goal and Focus statements – from the church’s Belief’s and Vision brochure:
Upholding biblical manhood and womanhood. All men and women are created equally in the image of God and both equally enjoy the benefits of redemption in Christ. In His sovereignty, the Holy Spirit has entrusted His gifts to both men and women. The Lord has also given different roles to men and women in the home and church. We uphold godly, servant male leadership within the home and church, and for godly women to help in supporting roles. (Genesis 1:26-31; Ephesians 5:22-33; 1 Peter 3:1-7)

Do we see more men prepared and willing to assume their God-ordained role of servant leadership in the home and church? Do we see the men of the church hungering and thirsting after Christ and His Word so that they may be the primary minister to their wives and children?

5 Key Values of the Men’s Ministry:

1.  Devotion – a man’s devotion to his God, his family, Christ’s church, and his community.
2.  Leadership – leads his family and the church in biblical truths.
3.  Responsibility  - takes responsibility for his actions and is responsible to obey God’s will, to love his wife as Christ loves the church, to train his children and to serve Christ in the church.
4.  Courage – leads courageously and follows Christ rather than the world.
5.  Perspective – trusts that Christ will bring His joy and fulfillment in His time, rather than the immediate pleasures offered by the culture of today.
